Employees must
comply with all City Policies at all times.
Failure to comply with any of the following Policies may subject the
employee to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. If you have a question regarding any of these
Policies, please ask your supervisor, department head, City Manager, or the
Personnel Department. A signed copy of this
Awareness Form will be maintained in your Personnel file and you will receive a
copy.
Employees
will:
a)
Report to work on
time and remain on the job until the end of duty; not work overtime without
prior authorization of management and accept compensatory
time off instead of overtime pay if the City so desires.
b)
Pay full attention
to your work and perform duties safely, to the best of your ability, and
contribute a full day’s work for a full day’s pay.
c)
Be courteous,
friendly, and helpful to other employees at all times, smoke only in designated
areas, and accept additional assignments during peak workloads and emergency
situations.
d)
Have proper
cause, give prior notification to supervisors, and receive authorization to be
absent from work and before leaving the work site.
e)
Refrain from
spreading rumors, using profanity, indecent or abusive language, acting in a
rude or boisterous manner, or engaging in other activities which have a
disruptive influence on morale or work progress or which may constitute any
form of discrimination or harassment.
f)
Not make threats
to other employees or visitors nor cause or participate in an assault, fight,
argument, or other disturbance.
g)
Not possess,
store, or use weapons, alcoholic beverages, or illegal drugs on City property
or while in the performance of City business and adhere to City’s Drug/Alcohol Free
Workplace Policy.
h)
Not make
unauthorized long distance telephone calls on a company telephone or fail to
reimburse the City for personal calls in a timely manner.
i)
Be honest in
handling money or other property which belongs to the City and others; respect
all property (i.e.; misuse, damage, “borrowing”, or destruction of City
property or the property of others is prohibited).
j)
Not offer or
receive money or other things of value to influence the decisions made by any
employee of the City.
k)
Maintain truth and
accuracy in all City records and documents including your employment
application, travel expenses, time records; and make no false statement,
misstatement, or omission to any auditors or investigators retained by the City
or to any City official regarding City business.
l)
Maintain a valid
NC driver’s license and immediately notify your supervisor of any license
suspension or revocation if position requires driving City owned or leased
vehicles/equipment.
m)
Report accidents,
suspected dishonesty, or other unusual circumstances to the City Manager
immediately.
n)
Wear proper City
uniform and personal protective equipment as required and only during working
hours and when commuting to and from work.
NOTE: The City policies listed above are not
intended to cover all conduct or work performance that may be grounds for
disciplinary action or immediate dismissal and are subject to unilateral change
by management at any time, without notice.
Policies in addition to these may be instituted by management at any
time.
I agree to conform to all of the policies and procedures of the City (an employee handbook will be given to me upon hire). I understand that the objective of the City is to retain qualified, productive, and motivated employees who will provide efficient and effective services to the citizens. I understand that I am an employee at will for no definite duration, and I have the option to terminate my employment with the City, with or without cause and without notice at any time, and the City retains a similar right. I further understand that these policies do not create a contract between the City and me nor form the basis of an implied contract.
