by Tom McKinney

MORE TO COME

Kelten Brayboy lined a single to right field in the bottom of the 6th inning to knock in Tim Carter from second base to break a tie and lead the West Robeson Americans to a 2-1 victory over Elizabethtown on Wednesday in Red Springs. Keemo Pierce drilled a home run over the outfield fence early in the game to give the West Robeson Americans a 1-0 lead that held until Elizabethtown scored a run in the top of the 6th inning.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Quinton Moore delivered a base hit to provide a much-needed baserunner to represent the winning run. Tim Carter hit a ground ball that forced out Quinton Moore at second base and Isaac Jacobs was hit by a pitch. Tim Carter raced home from second base to score the winning run on Kelton Brayboy's clutch base hit.

The West Robeson Americans will face Red Springs on Thursday at 6:30 pm in the tournament championship game.
