Weinstein defeats Clark for NC Senate

Hoke goes with Clark - but Robeson County favors Weinstein

Hoke County

David Weinstein gained 61 percent of the vote to defeat Benjamin Clark for the district 13 seat of the NC Senate. Hoke County favored Clark, giving him approximately 60% of the vote. However, Robeson County, which has a much larger population than Hoke, handed Weinstein the decisive victory.

Whiteford Jones, Chairman of the local Board of Elections, commented that the turnout was "higher than we expected" for Hoke County. North Carolina, along with Indiana, was in the national spotlight due to the heated battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Caroline Shook, Director of the Hoke County Board of Elections, indicated that there are 22,000 registered voters in Hoke County. The busiest voting poll in Hoke County was the Puppy Creek Fire Department in the northeastern portion of the county. The Puppy Creek precinct has 5,800 registered voters.
