Cary 4th-Grader Studies Hoke County

Timothy Wiklund attends Green Hope Elementary

Hoke's Stoneybrook Steeplechase draws student's interest

by Tom McKinney

Timothy Wiklund is a 4th-grader at Green Hope Elementary School in Cary, North Carolina. Spending time with Timothy, it quickly becomes apparent that he easily talks and interacts with both adults and other kids his age - quite a special quality for someone in the 4th grade.

Timothy is studying Hoke County as part of a school project that culminates this week with each student making a presentation to the class and setting up a display in the school gym. Timothy, a talented young hockey player, has taken a special interest in the Stoneybrook Steeplechase, with his school display including a model of this popular event held each April in western Hoke County.

Timothy's three topics of special interest for Hoke County are:

Stoneybrook Steeplechase

North Carolina Turkey Festival

Connection with nearby Ft. Bragg
