East Hoke softball wins thriller Keisha Vanner raced across home plate to score the winning run on a clutch hit by Whitney Poe in the bottom of the 8th inning as the East Hoke Middle School girls' softball team won a thrilling 18-17 extra-inning victory over Sycamore. Stoneybrook Steeplechase draws enthusiastic crowd The 56th running of the Stoneybrook Steeplechase took place on Saturday at the Carolina Horse Park in Hoke County. A large crowd was in attendance as sunny skies compensated for the chilly temperature.
