Memorial Day Observance held in Raeford

Special tribute was paid to four Hoke County soldiers who have fallen in 2007.

SFC Keith Callahan was killed in action in Iraq on January 24, 2007, at the age of 31. He is survived by his wife, Dody, and his children, Tyler (13), Devin (7), and twins Brady and Brooke (4).

SSG Casey D. Combs was killed in action in Afghanistan on April 12, 2007, at the age of 28. He is survived by his wife, Amber, and his children, Hallie (6) and Trenton (2).

SPC Montrel S. Mcarn was killed in action in Iraq on February 19, 2007, at the age of 21. He is survived by his mother and father.

SSG Timothy P. Padgett was killed in action in Afghanistan on May 8, 2007, at the age of 28. He is survived by his daughter, Summer (8).

For the 2007 ceremony, the National Anthem was sung by the Ladies Auxiliary 7930.

Hoke High School senior and JROTC member Christina Cox was presented with a $300 scholarship award from Chapter 17 of the Disabled American Veterans. She will be attending college at North Georgia College and State University.


Memorial Day 2007
The Memorial Day observance ceremony for 2007 was held in front of the county courthouse on Main Street in downtown Raeford.
