The Hoke football team made an inspiring comeback in the second half as the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls barely held on to secure a 21-20 win over the Fighting Bucks. Trailing 21-6 at the beginning of the second half, Hoke took charge of the game and held E.E. Smith scoreless for the last two quarters, while scoring two touchdowns and a two-point conversion before running out of time trailing by one point.

E.E. Smith roared out to a 21-0 lead in the first half before Hoke was able to score a touchdown, with an unsuccessful attempt at a two-point conversion, to make it 21-6 at the half. However, the second half was an entirely different story as Hoke capitalized on multiple E.E. Smith turnovers to mount a comeback that nearly succeeded in upsetting the Golden Bulls on their home field.
