Ethanol Plant Draws Public Comments

Jobs, public safety, and odors are discussed


The Hoke County Commissioners received public comments both for and against the proposed ethanol plant at their Monday night meeting.

Many of those in attendance at the meeting were aware of the recent controversy surrounding another proposed ethanol plant in nearby Fayetteville.

Supporters of the Hoke County plant pointed to the need for new jobs in Hoke County, while opponents expressed concern about odors, the possibility of a plant explosion, and the economic incentives provided by the county.
