West Robeson defeats Hope Mills in thriller
West Robeson plays Lumberton on Monday (July 16th) at 8pm
by Tom McKinney
In what was certainly one of the most exciting games thus far in the tournament, West Robeson squeezed past Hope Mills, 8-7, on Sunday night in Eden, NC.
With their fans screaming out in support, Hope Mills made an extraordinary comeback effort in the 5th inning by scoring seven runs to convert a dismal 0-6 deficit to a remarkable 7-6 lead.
However, the West Robeson baseball team, along with their equally enthusiastic and noisy fans, pulled the rug out from under the Hope Mills comeback by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to win the game by a score of 8-7.
