Lumberton displays quickness in beating Burgaw

Return to Eden Baseball Tournament Main Page

Lumberton wins by 8-3 score to remain unbeaten

by Tom McKinney

Lumberton's quick defense and aggressive base running overwhelmed Burgaw in Sunday's baseball tournament game in Eden, NC.

Fans are learning to keep their eyes on the field when Lumberton is playing. If you turn your head away from the field for just a few seconds you will miss a Lumberton baserunner dashing off to slide safely into the next base, or miss the Lumberton defense pulling off another fancy double play.

In Sunday's game, a hard-to-catch ball popped up between home and first base was snatched up by Mack Kenney, who quickly threw to Dylan Floyd at third base, who then fired to Raleigh Forrest at second base. And suddenly, Burgaw discovered that both of their baserunnners were out!
