In a somewhat surprising development, city officials in Fairmont, West Virginia have delayed their decision on a new city manager until next week. Raeford City Manager, Richard Douglas, is one of three finalists seeking the position. Mallory Panuska, a reporter with the Times West Virginian (link to www.timeswv.com), reports that officials in Fairmont have delayed the decision, with the field now narrowed down from three candidates to two. She reports, however, that city officials are not indicating the names of the two finalists.

Raeford City Manager, Richard Douglas, will learn on Tuesday if he has been selected as new city manager for Fairmont, West Virginia. Douglas and two other finalists went through a series of interviews on Friday in Fairmont.
Mallory Panuska, a reporter with the Times West Virginian (link to www.timeswv.com), reports that, on Friday, Douglas listed some of his most important Raeford accomplishments, including that he "worked on a downtown streetscape project, helped bring the wastewater treatment plant back into compliance, and worked extensively on an annexation project that brought a significant area of land into the city."
Panuska quotes Douglas as saying, "I consider myself a bull dog in pushing forward ideas." She also quotes him explaining that, "I don’t always go for status quo. I think we need to look outside the box and think creatively."
The posting for the Fairmont job lists the salary amount as negotiable up to $65,000.

Raeford City Manager, Richard Douglas, is in West Virginia today, one of three candidates seeking the job of city manager in Fairmont.
Mallory Panuska, a reporter with the Times West Virginian (link to www.timeswv.com), is reporting that Fairmont city officials are looking for someone who can keep multiple projects moving and "has a very good rapport in working with their staff and with the department heads, and a very good open-door policy."
The City of Fairmont, WV is currently evaluating three candidates for the city manager job, including Raeford's Richard Douglas, James W. Snider from Kewanne, Illinois, and Blaine Oborn from Ronceverte, West Virginia.
Today will be an important day for Douglas and the other two candidates, with three interview sessions on the schedule. Mallory Panuska reports that "two of these will be private sessions conducted by the city’s department heads and council members, and one will be a public session with the community."
