Trailing 8-1 early in the game, the determined Leland baseball team battled back for a dramatic 10-8 victory over Hope Mills to capture the state championship, ages 11-12, on Saturday evening in Dunn, NC. Leland's Tyler Lewis smashed a three-run homer in the top of the 6th inning, while tenacious pitcher Steven Linkous and the Leland defense made keys plays in the bottom of the 6th inning, to stun Hope Mills and propel Leland into the World Series.
