Unilever

Raeford's Unilever plant to add 25 jobs

Some argue it's "corporate welfare" while others say it's action needed to create jobs. Whatever your point of view, Unilever has received a $60,000 grant from the state to add 25 new jobs and invest $10.6 million in their Raeford facility. Clean Burn Fuels

USDA awards guarantees for ethanol plant

Clean Burn Fuel's Hoke ethanol plant is one of the recipients of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's loan guarantee awards to help businesses in North Carolina, Georgia, and Illinois create jobs and develop renewable energy systems. Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns recently announced the award, which will benefit the proposed 60 million gallons/year plant for Hoke County. The construction of the plant is scheduled to begin this year. (link to www.usda.gov)
